OQC appoints new Chairman of Board
- Quantum computing has the potential to enhance existing HPC systems by accelerating the execution of specific tasks through the use of a quantum processor: addressing the need for increased computational power to solve problems currently too computationally demanding or unresolvable with classical compute alone which will bring economic benefits to end users in the near future.
- Researchers from the Galicia Supercomputing Center, FUJITSU, and OQC have developed QMIO: a state-of-the-art hybrid system that seamlessly integrates quantum computing with traditional high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Integrating HPC and quantum computing presents significant challenges across hardware and software; QMIO demonstrates the successful tight integration between the two systems and the work carried out explores the lessons learned during the design, implementation and operation of this new hybrid infrastructure.
READING, UK – 2nd April 2025 – OQC, a global leader in quantum computing today announced the appointment of Jack Boyer OBE as Chairman of the Board following a comprehensive search process. Boyer brings a wealth of experience in scaling deep-tech and engineering companies, currently serving as Chair of Royce Hydrogen Accelerator, Bristol University and Non-Executive Director at Bela Holdings AG. Boyer is serving as Chair Designate, before officially becoming Chair of the Board on April 16th.
Recognised with an OBE in 2015 for his contributions to science and engineering, Boyer’s appointment marks a strategic milestone for OQC as it continues its global expansion and technological advancement. His high profile business experience will play a crucial role in guiding OQC through its next phase of growth.

Boyer succeeds Peter George, who is stepping down after playing a pivotal role in the company’s development. Under George’s leadership, OQC successfully closed its Series A round enabling significant advancements in R&D and expansion into the Asia-Pacific market. He also played a key role in securing the company’s recent Series B investment, strengthening OQC’s position as a global quantum leader.
