PRESS RELEASE
OQC joins the Quantum Australia Board
LONDON, UK – Wednesday 13 November 2024
The evolution of quantum is developing at an accelerated pace and as the industry looks to reach fault-tolerant quantum computing, collaboration remains a key driver.
As part of the global quantum mission, OQC’s CEO Gerald Mullally was recently appointed as an inaugural member of the first Quantum Australia Board. The board was founded to help shape the future of quantum research and technology in Australia.
Mullally will sit alongside other key industry leaders including Professor Stephen Bartlett, Professor Michelle Simmons, Professor Allison Kealy and Stephanie Moroz. This member selection, alongside Board Chair Peter Rossdeutscher AM, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board.
Quantum Australia, the national centre for quantum industry growth, was established in May 2024 after the Australian Government awarded $18.4million to a consortium of research institutions, industry partners, and quantum companies to create a national centre of innovation and collaboration. This funding was provided to grow the quantum industry and ecosystem in Australia, while bringing together the Australian Quantum Ecosystem to broaden its reach internationally.
“Australia is emerging as a global leader in quantum and Quantum Australia will play a critical role in driving growth, collaboration and innovation across the quantum ecosystem,” says Mullally. “I am honoured to join the Quantum Australia Board and contribute to shaping the future of quantum in Australia.”
OQC spent time in Sydney, Australia earlier this year, presenting hybrid quantum compute capabilities and access applications at Supercomputing Asia 2024 as well as joining prominent quantum experts from across the globe at Quantum Australia to explore alternative perspectives on quantum research, the latest in quantum science and technology, and emerging applications, as well as understand better the Australian quantum ecosystem and industry.
